Artist Biography
Lucy is a Brisbane-based artist and museum curator. Her multidisciplinary practice includes a focus on sculpture and kiln-cast glass. She creates contemporary, conceptual glass sculpture using traditional craft-based techniques.
Themes of memory, relics and taxonomies are explored through the fluidity/solidity of cast glass objects. Elements of light, projection and refraction are employed to consider and shift attention to minute moments and intricate details of her sculptures. Lucy achieved an Honours degree from the ANU School of Art and later a masters degrees from the ANU in Liberal Arts (Museums & Collections).
Lucy moved to Brisbane in 2014. She has 20 years of experience working in the arts sector in access and inclusion. This includes positions at the National Gallery of Australia, the National Portrait Gallery. Her experience in gallery-based access and learning has featured a wide range of audience-focused programming and exhibitions.
